Officially 776 B.C. is considered to be the origin of the Olympic Games. Competitions in Olympia were held for more than one century at least but then they were lost. Sacred peace was declared during the Olympic Games in Greece and maintained strictly. Only free-born citizens could take part in the Olympic Games. Slaves and women were not entitled to participate
