New Year as well as any other traditional holiday is basically a certain set of customs and rituals (oh wow!) Nowadays, when all the Christmas miracles are firmly sealed into boxes scaled 13"-34", we can indulgently negate any superstitions of our prehistoric past. But our cave ancestors, perhaps because of unavailability of TVs believed whatever they saw and heard.
