St. Patrick's Day is a famous Irish holiday, though celebrated all over the world by people, who are fond of everything connected with Irish traditions.

March 17 is the death date of the favorite Irish saint- Patrick. But people used to spend this day cheerfully. The reason lies in the nature of Irish character- during the funeral repasts people usually don't cry, but try to remember different funny stories about the dead person. Irish people assume that dead people shouldn't regret of making their relatives cry.

Usually people put on green clothes as green is the national color, symbolizing spring and trefoil. They arrange concerts and festivals, drink a lot of beer and Jameson whiskey at this holiday.

Very often people associate the St. Patrick's Day with Leprechaun - fantastic man looking like an elf, who lives only in Irish forests. Though he has a bad reputation of a mischief-maker, there are no cases when he hurts a man.
