Summary of the idea/dream: Residential streets could be equipped with boom gates and speed cameras, which signal boom gates to open only in case drivers move under the speed limit.
The idea may seem cruel, but only at the beginning. Anyone who lives close to the road may witness extreme drivers trying to make the most out of their cars during the night, and they sure don't care about speed limit warning signs. As a result, we see pedestrian casualties, or actual drivers smashed to the end-of-the-street roundabout. Authorities just can't afford monitoring streets during the night.
By installing simple boom gates with speed limit camera, we could safe so many lives and so many calm sleep moments. Think of it. Yes, a few first "beta-testers" are likely to have some hard moments, but would have their lesson. Imagine that the boom gate just wouldn't open in case they drive over the speed limit. This would be not just a "oh no, this is illegal" case, but a working prevention measure.
Make them mobile, place them randomly on different streets, promote the idea and the hot-heads would go to the pool to ease down the heat. Roads just got to be safer.
