Summary of the idea/dream: Baking various pancakes is the main tradition of Maslenica! Let's also follow this tradition and won't "stay aside"!
Have you ever heard about a Russian holiday, called "Maslenica"? If not, I am glad to tell you a little about it.
Maslenica is an original Russian national holiday of meeting spring! It is accompanied by various traditions - baking pancakes, masquerade and fights. People celebrate this holiday since pagan times. By the way, Maslenica is not one-day holiday, it's celebrated for 7 days! People are seeing off boring winter and meeting long-awaited spring. On this occasion they make special scarecrow, embodying winter and set it on the fire!
Traditional dish of Maslenica is pancakes, coz they embody shining Sun of coming spring! Commonly pancakes should be eaten with jam, caviar, sour cream, cottage cheese, meat and other foods.
So, in my turn, I also want to give you a recipe of pancakes, made with jam.
Take: 2 glasses flour, 1 glass sugar, 10 eggs, 1 glass milk or cream, 50 g butter, 2 glasses jam, lemon peel.
Mix egg yolks with sugar, pour milk or cream and add grated
