Both the Ancient romans and Medieval europeans built their many-roomed dwellings from solid blocks of rock or marble with some basic finishing and ornamentation. Minos's Palace on Crete, Roman Coliseum and medieval castles both look really impressive and stand for centuries resisting corrosion and scarcely required so much effort to construct as modern mansions and skyscrapers, and their lofty design is always associated with regal prestige.
My idea is constructing contemporary castles and palaces following the classical architectural techniques, only involving contemporary plastic + glass + light alloys trimming for providing the rich people buying them the maximum comfort thay are used to, unlike the medieval kings and roman patricians who always suffered draughts and dampness in their cool dwellings
