I began to prepare presents about a month before. I don't like to rush to the shops in the last days before the New Year because it's really difficult to find exactly what you want at this time. I think that the present shouldn't be necessary expensive or practical. For example, you wanted to buy new sofa and agreed with your husband that it's your and his present for this New Year. Of course sofa as a present is something global but it's absolutely not interesting.

The present should be unexpected, desired (it's kind of stupid to present something that a person can use for practical purposes). The present should be also packed beautifully and the main thing that it should be presented from the bottom of your heart. As for me I broke the habit of my husband to buy me trifles in the nearest shop.
