I want to speak about cost of living per a person.
As I know every country has a system of estimating a definite amount of material benefits necessary to stay alive. In estimating such costs, food, clothing, rent, fuel, lighting, and furnishings as well as expenses for communication, education, recreation, transportation, and medical services are generally included. But these are according to common sense.
As for Russia's cost of living it is estimated by so-called basket of goods or "market basket". I wish the clerks from the Bureau dealing with calculations and analyses on estimating an average "market basket" manage to stay alive themselves being provided with similar basket of foods only. Moreover such analyses must also consider regional variations in the cost of living, and the relative weighting of the components of the index must be reappraised periodically.
