I would like to share a good idea how to prepare an extraordinary drink - Russian kvass. It bears a distant resemblance of beer. I advice you to try it.

Ingredients:

Rye crackers 1.10 pounds
Barm 0.1 pounds
Sugar 0.44 pounds
Raisins 0.11 pounds
Fresh mint (shoots) 5-10 pcs.
Blackberry 3-4 leaves
Water 4 liters

Slice bread and dry it in an oven. Cover rye crackers with fiercely boiling water and brew it at a warm place for 3-4 hours. Then filter everything, add sugar, barm, mint and blackberry leaves. Cover the bottles (or the glasses) with kvass with a cloth. Put kvass at a warm place for 10-12 hours. When kvass has fermented, filter and bottle it. Put some raisins in every bottle. Plug up every bottle very carefully and put them into refrigerator. In 3 days you can drink kvass.
