I often can hear some guys to dispute or even argue about music styles and types. In fact there are about 200 of them I heard once: pop, rock, hip-hop, country, electronic, jazz, trip-hop, ambient, art-rock, alternative, punk, metal…etc.
But isn't it silly to try to compare them and to find advantages or disadvantages?! The ever silly thing possible on Earth! Each of us has one, two or three favorite music groups often from different music styles. So I think that speaking of our music preferences people shouldn't criticize your friend's music taste, instead one should emphasize the things he likes in his own favorite musician. Also I can see no sense in giving a label to each other. For example, if I like rock it doesn't mean that I'm a stubborn "rocker" that hates pop and all the rest music and vice versa. Let's listen to what we like regardless to the names of the groups and music styles we prefer just remembering that all we need in music is music.
