Summary of the idea/dream: Boiled gooseberries is not only tasty, but very wholesome drink! Try it!
Before using vegetables, fruits and berries for food (esp. when for the first time) I like to be aware as to their useful properties and matters. So, since now I would like to give you a recipe of compote from gooseberries, I also want to tell you a little about its value.
Gooseberries contain vitamins C, B1, P, provitamin A, lemon acid and pectine. It's specially useful for people having dysbolism and adiposity. The berries have diuretic, cholagogic and
light laxative action.
So, I think it's worthy to often use it for food, isn't it? That's why use my recipe and make compote from gooseberries! Take:
600 g gooseberries
1 and 1/3 glass sugar
5 glasses water
Sort out berries, cut stalks, wash out in cold water, then scald with boiling water.
Boil sugar syrup, put berries into it and boil for 2-3 minutes. Cool off ready compote and enjoy its wonderful taste! Hope you will like it!
